PS3 YLOD / RLOD Repairs information

We are the only repair center able to repair this issue long term, below is a brief description of the process.

First we Ps3 disassemble your Ps3 and then the thermal paste is  removed from the processor chips along with the heat-sinks the board is then put on a computer controllered dark infrared reflow system. Flux is then applied under the RSX chip (the consoles GPU) to promote good oxide removal create very strong solder joints once the repair process has been completed.

Then the board is then brought up to a temperature above 217 degrees celcius.

This is the liquidous point of lead-free solder and ensures that new solder stronger solder joints are created.

Once the System is again working, we test by powering up the system without heat-sinks or any thermal paste applied to the chips; this is very important because it confirms that defective solder joints are not merely being pseudo connected through pressure, but are in fact making an electrical connection through a solid solder joint, we then apply the best thermal paste you can buy and the reassemble the system.
